Summer of Protocols

In 2023, I received a grant from Ethereum Foundation to be a fellow of the Summer of Protocols research program. My topic was workplace health and safety protocols, and I proposed a general theory of protocol evolution based on an analysis of the coal mining industry. Protocols are emerging as a first-class concept in a world where traditional economic thinking fails to account for real-world complexity.

I now help manage the program's community and newsletter.

Business Modernization Initiative

After the pandemic hit, I moved to my Canadian hometown of Whitehorse, Yukon. There I had the opportunity to work in an internal consulting unit of the Government of Yukon. My ~3 years there were spent designing a new safety management system for the organizations 6,000+ employees, creating dashboards for safety and health data, doing strategic planning, advising executives, and conducting policy research.

Quantum Algorithms Institute

From 2019 to 2020, before the Covid-19 pandemic, I helped establish the Quantum Algorithms Institute. With $25 million in seed funding from the Government of British Columbia, the QuAI continues to operate as a public-private partnership with local universities and businesses. Its mandate is to accelerate research into algorithms that can take advantage of the unique strengths of exotic computational hardware.

Gustavson School of Business

I graduated from GSB in August 2019 with a Bachelor of Commerce after specializing in Entrepreneurship in my senior year. My first two years of study were in economics and philosophy. I was a director of the Commerce Student's Society, a UVic Business Technology Club founder, and won the university's alumni chess tournament. I completed four internships, one at each of: a breakdancing studio, a multinational insurance company, a provincial government, and a quantum computing startup.
