Consulting

I run planning sessions, review operations for safety, and design programs & organizations. My experience: seven years of operations, consulting and program management across the public and private sectors. Currently, I’m a Director at the Protocol Institute and am working on a book project, but remain open to new engagements.

Facilitation & strategic planning

Offsites, strategic plans, priority-setting. Two jobs: help a team decide what actually matters, and get teams that depend on each other to agree on who owns what. I’ve done this for multiple public and private sector executive teams, as well as for HR, consulting, and software engineering teams.

Good fit if your team wants to: make hard decisions, focus on what matters, or explain operations to a board, funder or partner.

Safety & resilience reviews

Operational reviews grounded in modern safety science rather than checklist compliance. I designed an occupational health and safety system for an org of over 5,500 employees. Suited to safety-critical contexts, like mining, aviation, remote camps, health and emergency management.

Good fit if your team wants to: understand their periods of high performance or improve worker health and safety outcomes.

Org & program design

I can support mergers, reorgs, wind-downs, leadership handoffs, grant programs, and fiscal setups. My experience: launching a ~$25M research institute, running a research program on a $1M annual budget, and supporting a reorg of a 500-person division.

Good fit if your organization wants to: launch, grow, restructure, or reposition – including deciding how to integrate AI tools.

How I work

I take on both one-off sessions and longer pieces of work. I’m based in Whitehorse, but spend about a month in Montreal and a month in San Francisco per year. I will work on the road for the right engagement. I always like to start with a short call to see if it’s a fit.
